Job Title: Endoscopy Patient Care Tech

(Only QUALIFIED Healthcare Professionals accepted) Other - MAIN FUNCTION:
The Endoscopy Patient Care Technician is a caregiver who assumes responsibility and accountability for Endoscopy patients under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse. The Endo-PCT provides care to the Endoscopy patient via assisting with reservations|scheduling, data collection and documentation, providing direct patient care assistance to the RN and MD, phlebotomy, and EKG and reprocessing and maintenance of equipment. This is done in collaboration with other health care team members.

**1. Is expected to greet patient and family in SDS|Endoscopy waiting area and escort them into the Endoscopy Suite to start the process for their procedure.
2. Is responsible for interviewing patient, collecting and documenting basic patient information|data, filling out necessary forms and records, and witnessing consents in a thorough, concise, timely manner in accordance with Division of Nursing Standards, documentation guidelines and age of patient.
**3. Assists the RN in providing direct patient care pre-admission, pre-procedure, and post-procedure as delegated. Observes patient and reports any changes in patient condition immediately to the RN.
4. Assists in the preparation of the patient for the procedure in the Endoscopy Suite.
5. Assists the RN in transportation of patients to and from the procedure rooms.
6. Applies monitoring equipment to patient under the supervision of the RN.
7. Opens and enters patient information into the Endoscopy workstation computer to start the documentation process for the procedure.
8. Assists with set-up and breakdown of the procedure room equipment and supplies.
9. Cleans, reprocesses and maintains all scopes and equipment used in procedures.
10. Offers nourishments to patients post procedure when appropriate.
11. Assists patients post procedure with removal hospital gowns and re dressing in street clothes as needed, Discontinues IV, and gets patient in lounge chair to prepare for discharge process.
12. Obtains post procedure vital signs and reports to RN and document results.
13. Cleans stretchers, makes up for next patient and obtains stretchers for SDS as needed.
High school diploma or equivalent. Previous nurse’s aide or clinical assistant experience preferred.

CPR certification.
