Job Title: Cytogenetic Technologist

Clifton    (Only QUALIFIED Healthcare Professionals accepted) Medical Technologist - Cytogenetics/DNA - Position Title: FISH Technologist
Shift: Full Time
Location: Clifton, NJ Area
As a Cytogenetics | FISH Technologist, you will work under general supervision and will perform computer-aided karotype and FISH analysis on peripheral blood and bone marrow specimens. Our technologists are responsible for following the procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analyses, as well as reporting and maintaining accurate and complete records of all testing performed on-site.
Additional responsibilities of the Cytogenetics | FISH Technologist include:
• Preparing and processing bone marrow and peripheral blood specimens for the detection of chromosome abnormalities in a high complexity genetic testing CAP certified lab
• Performing technical and scientific processes and procedures for the microscopic examination of specimens for the detection of cancer under the supervision of the manager
• Reviewing the daily technical systems for assurance of quality and efficiency
• Performing tests according to approved policies and procedures for all phases of testing – pre-analytic, analytic, and post-analytic – as well as general specimens

Job Requirements
Successful candidates for the Cytogenetics | FISH Technologist must have experience with oncological specimens and bone marrows. Someone with ASCP certification in Cytogenetic or Medical Technology | Medical Laboratory Technology would be a good fit for this role.
Additional requirements of the Cytogenetics | FISH Technologist role include:
• Bachelor’s degree in chemical, physical, or biological sciences
• 1 – 3 years of experience in a related field, preferred
• Heme FISH experience required
