Job description:
Improve the overall quality and completeness of clinical documentation on a concurrent basis through daily review of open records and interaction with physicians, health information management coding staff, case managers, and nursing staff. Coach and educate physicians, coders, case managers, and nurses in order to improve capture of clinical severity for the level of service rendered to all patients, especially those services with a DRG based reimbursement (e.g. Medicare, Medicaid). Identify process improvement opportunities and support the timely and accurate capture of measurements to improve patient care, as well as physician and hospital outcomes.
RHIA, RHIT, or RN with hospital coding experience preferred (including those grandfathered) with significant clinical documentation knowledge and experience. Credentialed HIM professional (RHIA, RHIT, CCS) or Clinical Licensure in the State of Texas. Five years recent clinical experience in a hospital setting, preferably two years ICD-9 Coding experience. Requires excellent observation skills, analytical thinking, problem solving, plus good verbal and written communication. Able to assess, evaluate, and teach. Flexible with a working knowledge of all areas of medicine. Professional, team player, able to communicate well with others. Strong interpersonal skills, and positive attitude. Demonstrates commitment to the BRHS Experience by integrating both behaviors and operating principles in all internal and external customer interactions. Performs duties with accountability, competency, innovation, collaboration, compassion and respect to create the best possible outcomes with exceptional customer experiences.
