Job Title: Respiratory Therapist

(Only QUALIFIED Healthcare Professionals accepted) Respiratory Therapy (RRT & CRTT) - 1. General job duties. Types of procedures required. Set up, instruct and test respiratory therapy equipment in the home, such as ventilators, Oxygen, CPAP, Bilevel, Suction, high humidity, pulse oximetry, apnea monitors, etc. for proper and safe operation and maintenance. Instruct and assess airway maintenance with tracheostomy care. Assess patient conditions and response to respiratory therapy. Overall respiratory assessments along with home assessments and proper documentation for all cares.



2. Equipment utilized in the unit|dept. (Is there computerized charting, medication systems, etc.) : Respiratory equipment as mentioned above. Business software and Respiratory testing equipment.



3. Required skills and minimum years of experience. One or more years of homecare experience preferred, including the care of tracheotomy and ventilator patients



4. Specific licensures and certifications|registrations required. (ARRT, CRT, BLS, ACLS, etc). Illinois Respiratory Care Practitioner license and CPR certification.



5. Shift or schedule requirements. (Will the employee ever work alone? Is call required? If so, how often? Are weekends required?) Monday – Friday between the hours of 8:00am – 5:00pm. Will be working alone. No call, holidays or weekends



6. Floating to other units|departments. (If so, to which units|departments?) No



7. Bed size|number of rooms for this unit|dept. N|A



8. Nurse to patient ratio of this unit. (nursing only) N|A



9. Dress Code: Designated uniform shirt with MHSvc logo; navy, black, gray or khaki pants and appropriate closed toe shoes.


10. Tell us about the unit|department specific training and orientation program. Consists of peer training, designated job specific computer based learning along with videos and documented equipment competencies.
