Job Title: Pharmacist

(Only QUALIFIED Healthcare Professionals accepted) Pharmacist -
1. General job duties. Types of procedures required.
•Accurately and safely dispenses the correct medication to our patients.
•Functions as an information resource on drugs and drug therapy for our patients, physicians and other health professionals.
•Performs prospective drug utilization review (DUR) in the process of filling a patient’s prescription. This includes review of drug-drug and drug-disease interactions and counseling the patient regarding these findings.
•Verifies that correct products are being restocked in the correct cells of the automated dispensing unit (robot) by checking NDC numbers and visually inspecting the products.
•Counsels the patient in non-drug related areas such as skin care, diabetic glucometers and diabetes, blood pressure machines and over-the- counter items.
•Double-checks computer Rx entries for accuracy.
•Discusses orders, which require verification with the medical provider of record.
•Answers patient concerns in a professional manner.
•Ensures correct compounding of special formulas.
•Retrieves messages from the call forwarding system, answers the phone and takes new prescription orders.
•Oversees technicians in determining whether a patient’s third party prescription plan will remunerate adequately for brand or generic products and promptly informs patient of such.
•Participates in regular controlled substance inventories.
•Respects and promotes all confidentiality issues. Complies with HIPAA regulations as they relate to the Aspirus Pharmacy Medford.
•Directs the Pharmacy Technicians and Clerks to best utilize their talents in efficiently taking care of our patients.
•Serves as a resource for technicians to accurately fill prescriptions and adjudicate insurance claims in a timely manner.
•Prioritizes workload of self and pharmacy team.
•Supervises technician duties within the scope of practice as assigned.

2. Equipment utilized in the unit|dept. (Is there computerized charting, medication systems, etc.)
QS|1 computer system; Rx Medic; CS Manager


3. Required skills and minimum years of experience.
Experience in retail pharmacy preferred; knowledge of third party reimbursement and computer systems is helpful

4. Specific licensures and certifications|registrations required. (ARRT, CRT, BLS, ACLS, etc)
Valid WI Pharmacist's License

5. Shift or schedule requirements. (Will the employee ever work alone? Is call required? If so, how often? Are weekends required?)
Mon-Fri shifts are 9:00 AM-6:00 PM; 9:30 AM-6:30 PM; or 7:30 AM-4:00 PM. Sat|Sun shifts are 8:30 AM-12:00 Noon. The retail pharmacy is closed holidays.
