Job Title: Psychiatry (General) Opportunity

A Psychiatrist is needed to join the hospital staff. Traditionally, the department has been staffed with 3 full time employed adult | adolescent psychiatrist covering the inpatient & outpatient units along with the ETC program (approximately 700 per year). Additionally, the hospital employs a full clinical team of counselors, nursing, social workers, occupational therapists, and educational coordinators. The department is also very active in the community organizations to promote the best possible care.

On average, the 20-bed inpatient unit admits 1,600 patients per year with an average length of stay of four days. The 20-bed unit average census is 17. On an average month, it can have between 145 to 150 admissions. The unit is for male, female and adolescents. The genders are separated (as well as the adolescent patients). The facility averages approximately 2,900 emergency room assessment per year with voluntary and involuntary admission in the inpatient unit and averages 7.2 hours of care by nursing. Predominately, the outpatient facility is 95% med-checks.

The current schedule for the 20-bed inpatient unit consists of two physicians rounding with the psychiatric care team (nurses, social workers and rehab specialists). The physicians see the adults in the morning and adolescents in the afternoon. On a typical day, physicians round on around 10-12 patients per day. Additionally, the physicians average about 2 admissions per day, as well as discharges, consults, and family meetings. The third physician will focus primarily on the outpatient practice, including the Partial Hospitalization Program. Typically, the work schedule is from 8 am to 6 pm, but can be flexible. After hours, nursing would cover the unit and physicians will be on call with a 1:3 call schedule. Physicians can expect between 4-6 calls after hours. The physician on call would cover phone consults after hours. Weekend call is 1:6. Weekend responsibilities would be rounding on Saturdays and Sundays , and then be available to take phone consult calls afterwards.

Financial Compensation-Psychiatry

The incoming candidate will be offered a minimum base salary of $200,000, with the ability to offer a higher salary according to experience. In order to move forward with the search, it is important to have a bonus incentive in place. Most opportunities are offering a production incentive in order for physicians to have the ability to earn in the mid $200s or more. A $15,000 signing bonus will be offered along with relocation expenses of $5,000. The initial guaranteed contract will be two to three years. The hospital will provide a full benefit package including malpractice insurance, medical and dental, life insurance, 403 b, PTO, CME and CME related expenses.
