Seeking an experienced RN for a CDI Role with one of the Top Health Systems in Chicago!

Job description:

Facilitates and obtains appropriate clinical medical record documentation on a concurrent basis to support appropriate/expected severity of illness/risk of mortality, complexity of care, medical necessity, and appropriate reimbursement for treatment and services provided. Must, after training, exhibit knowledge of clinical documentation requirements per ACDIS, AHIMA and CMS guidelines, DRG/code assignment and clinical conditions and procedures. Educates members of the patient care team regarding documentation guidelines.

Education: Prior CDI experience is required: CCDS or CDIP is a huge plus
Cert Coding Specialist (CCS)
Cert Professional Coder (CPC)
Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA)
Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT)
Registered Nurse (RN)

The Clinical Documentation Specialist is responsible for facilitating the improvement in the overall quality and completeness of medical record documentation. Promotes appropriate clinical documentation through appropriate interaction with physicians, nursing staff, other patient caregivers, and Health Information Management coding staff. Educates all members of the patient care team on documentation guidelines including, but not limited to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) present on admission reporting requirements. Impacts the quality of clinic al documentation and in turn affects the financial reimbursement for the institution.
Bachelor's degree majoring in Nursing and/or Health Information Management required. Credentials required: RN, RHIA, RHIT or CCS with a minimum of 2 years clinical experience or 5 years of inpatient coding required
A high level of clinical skills required to participate collaboratively with all members of the care team. Strong critical thinking skills and exceptional ability to integrate knowledge
Excellent observation, communication and decision making abilities. Ability to assess, evaluate, and teach all members of the care team
