Job Title: Orthopedic Nurse Practitioner / Physician Assistant

(Only QUALIFIED Healthcare Professionals accepted) Orthopaedic PA - Physician Assistant | Nurse Practitioner- Orthopedics:

-Position will consider new grad candidates

Responsible for providing medical services to patients of a Hospital employed Physician Practices. Such medical services may include history and physical exams, evaluation of specific illnesses and|or injuries, and planning for the effective treatment of diseases or injuries, both chronic and acute. Subject to approval from the VA Board of Pharmacy and under the supervision of the medical directors, prescribe medications allowed by the state for their scope of practice. Perform other services that have traditionally been reserved to physicians.

Education: Graduate of a Physician’s Assistant Program, accredited by a credentialing center recognized by the Board of Health Sciences, i.e. American Nurses’ Credentialing Center or the American Academy of Physician’s Assistants. Master’s level preparation preferred. Maintains at least the minimum number of continuing education hours necessary to sustain valid state licensure and national certification

Experience: A minimum of one to two years of Physician’s Assistant experience, experience in Orthopedics is preferred. Eligibility to prescribe Schedule drugs in accordance with the regulations of the Commonwealth of Virginia is preferred.

License|Certification: Currently licensed as a Physician’s Assistant in the state of Virginia and licensed by the Virginia Department of Health Professions as a Physician’s Assistant. Current national certification by the American Academy of Physician’s Assistants, the American Nurses’ Credentialing Center or other credentialing center recognized by the board. (See Regulations governing the Licensure of Physician’s Assistants for the State of Virginia). Must have a current Controlled Substance Registration Certificate and American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS.

Technical Skills: Must be thoroughly familiar with the principles and practice of a Physician’s Assistant. Must have a general knowledge of the operation and administration of a medical office, well-developed interpersonal and organizational skills and be very reliable. Recognizes and maintains confidentiality of patient records. Must be able to perform activities that involve an independent evaluation or treatment of a patient’s condition. Must possess background knowledge in the biological, behavioral, medical and nursing services relevant to the practice as a Physician’s Assistant and possess knowledge of the legal, ethical and professional responsibilities of a Physician’s Assistant.
