(Only QUALIFIED Healthcare Professionals accepted) Director of Nursing - A nonprofit, public health agency which owns and operates six community health centers (FQHC’s) in the Boston area is seeking a nurse leader to join the team as the Director of Nursing.
The Director of Nursing will join the Center’s Clinical Leadership team and will work with Practice Managers to ensure the Mission and Values are translated into our daily practice. The Director of Nursing will therefore contribute to the design and implementation of clinical workflows that promote safe and exceptional patient care. Working closely with each site’s Clinical Nurse Manager, the Director of Nursing will review and revise policies and procedures and will develop a training program to support nursing practice and professional growth. This position will require travel across all several Sites on a weekly basis.
Essential functions of the DON: Review, revise and develop policies and procedures for clinical practice in collaboration with clinical leadership team. Develop training program to support clinical competencies of nurses, medical assistants and other clinical care team members as appropriate. Identify and support professional development opportunities for nurses and medical assistants. Support patient safety and grievances process including ensuring issues are identified, re-mediated and addressed with patients as appropriate. Ensure compliance with Joint Commission, federal, state and local laws and regulations. Serve as a clinical management resource to Nurse Managers, Nurse Supervisors, Nurse Leads, Nurses, and Medical Assistants (MA's).
Manage relationships with nursing schools & professional organizations, insurance companies and other relevant partners. Work with medical directors, nurse managers and Lab Services to ensure CLIA waived – compliance and program to manage competencies for MA|RN staff. Establish quality standards for nursing care and develops relevant systems, policies and procedures to ensure meeting the highest standards. Work collaboratively with Ambulatory Quality & Safety to ensure compliance with policy and regulatory guidelines. Monitor|ensure compliance with Joint Commission, HRSA, federal, state and local laws and regulations.
Analyze, synthesize and apply data to drive optimal care delivery outcomes. Develop, enhance, and monitor reports to measure performance against practice standards and benchmarks. Develop training program to support team based patient centered care.
Implement nurse lead employee health program by supporting administration with employee health databases, pre-employment and on-boarding processes for employees, managing tracking process for annual N95| Influenza testing and|or vaccinations and managing potential blood exposures, employee illnesses and disease outbreaks. Responsible for coordinating the infection control program which includes surveillance; analysis of data; developing reports, policies and procedures. Work with the Infection Control Officer to ensure proper sterilization and routine cleaning of equipment and surfaces. Determine the direction of surveillance activities and evaluate effectiveness of the Infection Control Plan annually. Conduct risk assessments and training at least annually. Notify the County and|or State Health Department of any re-portable diseases, adhering to all internal county and state procedures.
Required Education and Experience: Current MA RN license required, BSN|MSN preferred, seven (years) of nursing experience with at least five (5) years managing nurses, Ambulatory nursing experience preferred.
