(Physician/MD qualifications required) Psychiatry (General) - The Psychiatrist is responsible for providing comprehensive psychiatric care to an ethnically and socially diverse patient population with mental, emotional or behavioral disorders. Working as part of a multi-disciplinary clinic team to ensure patients receive comprehensive medical and counseling services. Provides professional leadership to other physicians, residents, medical students, other professional and support staff to enhance their professional|patient care skills in providing mental health care.

Ensures that mental health patients|clients receive quality, timely, professional care services in accordance with Center’s mission and values. Examines patients with mental health issues to obtain medical history, assess, analyze, evaluate, diagnose and treat them; orders laboratory and other diagnostic tests and evaluates patient data and test findings to diagnose nature and extent of mental disorder and physical condition. Assesses and treats patients with mental illnesses through a combination of psychotherapy, psychoanalysis, hospitalization, and medication; designs individualized treatment plans; evaluates results of treatment and adjusts treatments as appropriate.

Prescribe, direct, and administer psychotherapeutic treatments or medications to treat mental, emotional, or behavioral disorders. Counsel patients on diet, hygiene and preventive health care.
Collaborate with other physicians, nurses, psychologists, social workers and other professionals to discuss treatment plans and progress. Proactively assists the patient and family through all facets of accessing care at the Clinic and elsewhere, serving as a resource to resolve patient and family concerns. Confers with student and resident physicians and other professional and support staff regarding care and treatment of mental health patients and assists|mentors them in management of mental illness.

The Psychiatrist will have academic affiliation with UCLA Medical School and Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.
