Summary:
The Manager of Infection Prevention is trained in hospital epidemiology principles and is responsible for the surveillance, analysis, interpretation and reporting of hospital acquired infections (HAI); educating employees about infection prevention; and the development of health system policies and procedures to insure rigorous infection control standards that meet JCAHO, OSHA, Centers for Medicaid|Medicare Services, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and other nationally organized agencies recommendations and requirements.
Oversight of infection control and prevention program.
Set the direction for world class patient safety through infection prevention for all affiliates
Design, manage, and improve IP surveillance and data reporting processes to support quick identification of risks, infections, and improvements.
Hire, train, retain, and develop team members dedicated to Infection Prevention activities.
Lead work processes and procedure improvements to ensure infection reduction.
Serve as infection prevention subject matter expert, participating in media events, workshops, and other public events. Forms and maintains meaningful professional relationships with all leaders, team members and medical staff members.
Development and oversight of new programs as identified through trending.
Oversight of all activities related to data collection and analysis, and communication with staff, administration, and regulatory agencies.
Conducts specific focus studies when need arises.
Oversight of feedback programs to providers regarding risk assessment.
Consulting with other departments in control implications of policies|procedures.
Oversight of development of orientation in-services for all departments.
On an ongoing basis assures all Joint Commission and other regulatory body (NYS DOH, CDC, etc.) infection prevention standards are met.
Performs ongoing assessment of relevant data and literature as it is related to patients with infections according to New York State Department of Health, CDC, and other regulatory standards.
Evaluates infection control standards on an ongoing basis to ensure compliance with local, state federal, and other regulatory agencies.
Serve on appropriate committees.
Takes in rotation, administrator on call duty.
Prepares statistical and other reports as required.
Experience:
5-7 years Infection Control experience in a similarly sized acute care facility or system
3-5 leadership|program management experience
Demonstrated success with data analysis|statistics
Proficient in the use of hospital based programs along with MS Outlook and Office
Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing required
Master's Degree in Nursing or Healthcare related field highly preferred
Certifications | Licensure:
Current State Registered Nurse (RN) License
Current Basic Life Support (BLS)
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
Certification in Infection Control (CIC) preferred
Special Skills:
Knowledge of infection control regulations and standards, epidemiological principles, infectious diseases, sterilization, sanitation, disinfection and isolation practices.
Must be able to work under deadlines and utilize independent decision making skills in a wide variety of situations.
Strong written and oral communication skills.
Ability to manage and inspire a team.
