Summary:
Under the supervision of the director|manager or designee, the Registered Nurse provides patient care in response to identified needs. Additional functions will be performed in accordance with the Nurse Practice Act in a manner consistent with the mission and goals of the organization.
Assures quality care through compliance with departmental policies, hospital and external regulatory agency guidelines.
Demonstrates desirable work habits and promotes personal growth and professionalism in the work environment.
Effectively performs the duties and responsibilities of a unit nurse using the nursing process.
Provides and documents quality patient care consistently according to hospital standards and policy|procedures.
Accepts accountability and responsibility as a member of the department of nursing services.
Participates in activities that promote quality patient care and efficient functioning of unit.
Provides professional nursing services in the treatment and care of patients in accordance with physician’s orders.
Prepares the unit for the patient and procedure being performed.
Monitors, records and communicates patient condition as appropriate using computerized documentation systems.
Experience:
2-3 years of nursing experience in a hospital, long term acute care, or skilled nursing environment required
1-2 years of unit nursing experience highly desired
Education:
Associates of Nursing required, or Nursing Degree from an Accredited Nursing School
Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing and|or Masters in health care related field preferred
Certifications | Licensure:
Current State Registered Nurse (RN) License and|or other licensure as applicable
Basic Life Support (BLS)
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
Knowledge of general nursing theory|practice and the ability to supervise and delegate to LPNs, CNAs, and other support staff as appropriate.
Special Skills:
Must be able to utilize independent decision-making skills in a wide variety of situations.
Requires a high degree of accuracy in the performance of varied responsibilities.
Personal computer skills required.
Frequent contact with employees, physicians, customers, community individuals and volunteers.
Must be self-motivated to complete work in a timely manner to meet deadlines.
