The Director of Behavioral Health Unit manages and coordinates the daily operations of the Behavioral Health Unit in collaboration with the CNO; plans and organizes all clinical functions, including staffing and staff development, purchasing and budgeting; coordinates implementation of disease management|wellness systems under the direction of the physicians.
Assumes accountability for the overall planning, coordination and delivery of services within the Behavioral Health Program.
Develop and maintain procedures, protocols, and systems on an on-going basis to ensure the program’s relevance, usability, and sustainability for patients, clinic staff and funders.
Oversees the development of comprehensive treatment plans with the treatment team.
Participates in and is responsible for the design, implementation, and evaluation of individual and group behavior therapy programs.
Participates in patient treatment, including case conferences and reviews, as a member of the multi-disciplinary treatment team.
Performs behavioral health screening, triage, evaluation, and assessment to determined appropriate level of behavioral health care.
Assist in the detection of “at risk” patients to assess and provide care to prevent further psychological or physical deterioration.
Monitors, evaluates and reports on the progress of the behavioral health programs.
Participate in the interviews, hiring, and training of behavioral health department staff.
Supervises and evaluates behavioral health staff including interns for the purpose of monitoring performance, providing for professional growth and achieving overall objectives of the facility's behavioral health program.
Actively participates in the management team.
Maintains a clinical behavioral practice and coverage of the clinics.
3-5 years clinical nursing experience in behavioral health
2-3 years experience in a behavioral health management | supervisory role
5 years of progressive management experience in a hospital environment as an Associate Chief Nursing Officer or Nursing director of multiple, complex nursing departments.
Bachelor's degree in Nursing required
Masters degree in a health related field and|or Health Administration|Business required
Certifications | Licensure:  
Current and valid license State Registered Nurse (RN) License
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required
Certified Clinical Mental Health Counselor (CCMHC) preferred
Certification in Specialty or Leadership in CORN, NEA-BC, NE-BC preferred
Special Skills:  
Must be able to work under deadlines and utilize independent decision making skills in a wide variety of situations
Strong written and oral communication skills
Ability to manage and inspire a team
