A central Pennsylvanio hospital is seeking a Medical Director of Psychiatry.

Job entails providing inpatient psychiatric treatment for children, adolescents and adults, is accredited by The Joint Commission and is recognized as a top performer having core measures scores in the top 15 percent of accredited hospitals in the country.

We are at the center of an integrated mental health delivery system. Our 149-bed facility provides an environment conducive to recovery and healing. Personal attention is integral to our treatment philosophy which combines a team of experienced professionals with compassionate and respectful care.

We feature seven discreet units: a children's program, an adolescent program and five adult programs. A unique advantage to our children's and adolescent programs is a fully licensed school.


Direction and oversight of psychiatric evaluations, medications, and medical management, as well as leadership of a treatment team. Must also direct performance-improvement activities and serve as advocates for the needs and rights of both team members and patients. Will have limited contact with patients during intake and focus on directing the patient's treatment based on the team's recommendations. Must oversee other psychiatrists assigned to a treatment team, as well as psychiatric nurses, physician assistants, and, occasionally, psychiatric interns. Must be a doctor of either medicine or osteopathy, and must be board-eligible in psychiatry. As little as three years of post-residency experience in mental health treatment may also be required. Finally state medical certification.

  • Manage and oversee daily clinical and administrative operations.
  • Attend and present at meetings with other departments and area groups and agencies.
  • Provide patient care and follow up services, including assessing patient care plans.
  • Develop and implement behavioral health and recovery services and systems.
  • Develop, evaluate, approve and revise clinical policy and protocols.
