The Medical Front Desk Receptionist is a medical professional dedicated to the health and well-being of our patients. The Front Office is an integral member of the Care Team that focuses on providing excellent and comprehensive primary care for a specific panel of patients. This team is available and accountable to their patients and to one another. The front office is expected to build strong relationships with their patients and to be a trusted partner of their physician leader. This will allow them to guide their patients through both complex and routine medical and social challenges.
• Answering telephone calls, as well as screening and forwarding calls. Scheduling and confirming appointments, meetings, and events. Welcoming and assisting visitors in a friendly and professional manner. Handling basic inquiries and sorting mail.
• Work closely with the Care Team
• Show patients to examination rooms and prepare patients for the physician.
• Process patient phone messages and meet their needs promptly (within 24 hours) or elevate other care team members' needs when necessary.
• Manage and provide direction to patient education for both Care Management programs and Quality initiatives
• Maintain treatment areas and equipment according to our defined standards.
• Authorize drug refills and provide prescription information to pharmacies.
• Clean and sterilize instruments and dispose of contaminated supplies.
• Help physicians examine and treat patients, handing the physician instruments and materials, or performing such tasks as giving injections or removing sutures.
• Ensure the accuracy of medications provided to patients. (Please check your state regulations.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to collaborate with team members, including doctors, nurses, front desk staff, center managers, and market leaders.
• A mindset focused on solving problems for patients and achieving team goals.
• Knowledge of medical products, services, standards, policies, and procedures.
• Skill in operating phones, personal computers, software, and other IT systems.
• Ability to pay close attention to detail and to ensure accuracy of reports and data.
• Ability to maintain effective and organized systems to ensure timely patient flow.
