The mission-oriented psychiatrist supports behavioral health care by providing consultation to the providers of our client. The psychiatrist will also provide assessments and direct care to a multicultural, multilingual patient population.

As a member of the integrated care team the psychiatrist will fulfill the following key functions and responsibilities towards the provision of patient-centered, coordinated patient care:

– Provide telephone, electronic, and|or in-person consultation with providers about patient issues. These issues can include diagnostic clarification, treatment recommendations, or other issues
– Provide direct consultation for complex patients, making recommendations to provider
– Provide time-limited ongoing care for complex or high-risk clients
– Consult on behavioral health systems and processes
– Teach providers and staff of client about behavioral health topics such as psychopharmacology, diagnosis, treatment, management of challenging behaviors, etc.
– Promotes an atmosphere of teamwork and excellence among staff
– Meet with program staff on a regular basis
– Works collaboratively with all providers to ensure coordinated patient-centered activities – Participates in strategic and operational planning

Minimum Qualifications:

– Medical degree from an accredited university and residency at an accredited psychiatry program
– Must be in possession of a valid license to practice medicine in the State of Maryland
– Board certified in adult psychiatry, child and adolescent psychiatry, or other psychiatric specialty
– Demonstrate a special interest in the area of community medicine
– Experience in an integrated care and community psychiatry setting
– Ability to relate to culturally diverse patients and community
