Summary:
The Nurse Manager of the Operating Room is part of the department management team and assists with the organization, direction, management and evaluation of patient care services for the Operating Room (OR) Service areas.
Responsible for the clinical, operational and financial management of the OR Services departments.
Develops action plans and reports outcomes to Director or Administrative Director of Surgical Services.
Assists with budgetary or fiscal accountability and is responsible 24 hours a day for the ongoing effective operation of unit(s).
Supervises surgical staff and may also assist with supervising PACU, Operating Room, Central Sterile, Pre-Op, Post-Op, or Ambulatory Surgery.
Assists with overseeing the unit(s) operation to ensure the safe and efficient delivery of care and to maximize patient, physician, and employee satisfaction.
Frequent contact with employees, physicians, customers, community individuals and volunteers.
Assists with the development and review monitoring activities related to the quality of nursing care provided.
Assists with ensuring compliance with all regulatory and accrediting agencies.
Must have strong knowledge of all aspects of Perioperative Services and patient throughput including scheduling, pre-admission testing, ambulatory surgery, endoscopy, pain management, PACU, OR, and central sterile processing, and other areas as applicable.
Performs responsibilities in accordance with hospital goals, objectives, policies and procedures.

Experience:
5 years progressively responsible healthcare experience in Surgical Services required
1 year minimum of progressively responsible management or business experience. Includes management of department, revenue accountability, contract management and staff management required
5 years and above preferred

Education:
Bachelor’s in Nursing, Healthcare, Business, Public Administration, Management or related field required
National Incident Management System (NIMS) class to be completed within 6 month of position date required

Certifications | Licensure:
Current State Registered Nurse (RN) License and|or other licensure as applicable.
Current Basic Life Support (BLS)
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
Working knowledge of JCAHO & AORN recommendations required

Special Skills:
Team building, systems thinking, complex problem solving, negotiating and influencing, change and conflict management, facilitation of quality improvement process, evaluation of quality information, coaching and mentoring, strategic planning, business strategy development, management of large and complex projects
Strength and understanding of information systems preferred.
