Medical Coder Baltimore, MD

We are looking for an enthusiastic Medical Billing | Coder to join our practice full time in Baltimore, MD. Our ideal Biller | Coder is motivated, pays extra attention to detail, is proactive with work and ways to improve workflow and operations, and a team player - willing to help other staff when needed. This is an in-office position, working Monday thru Friday. Must have excellent problem solving and organizational skills, be a good communicator and be proficient in both Medical Billing and Coding. We prefer certification through the AHIMA or AAPC, but we are open to reviewing candidates without this certification if they have a few years coding|auditing experience.

Job Duties:

• Coding
o Making sure that codes are assigned correctly and sequenced appropriately as per government and insurance regulations.
o Complying with medical coding guidelines and policies.
o Receiving and reviewing patients’ documents for verification and accuracy.
o Following up and clarifying any information that is not clear to other staff members.
o Keeping current with quarterly and annual coding updates and communicating to relevant staff.
• Auditing
o Implementing strategic procedures and choosing strategies and evaluation methods that provide correct results.
o Provider Auditing according to the company policies.
o Reporting audit results to the Upper Management.
o Communicating with providers and providing necessary training.

• Working knowledge of insurance guidelines and billing and collection procedures.
• Certified Auditor preferred.
• Knowledge of computer applications, including Windows, Outlook, and Microsoft Office.
• Typing – 50+ WPM.
• Knowledge of insurance plans, workers’ compensation, and personal injury.
• Must have both billing and coding experience
• Certification through the AHIMA or AAPC
