Position Overview
We are seeking a Board-Certified or Board-Eligible Infectious Disease Physician to join a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) in Zachary, LA. This is a part-time opportunity in a community clinic setting. The role combines direct outpatient care with clinical leadership, overseeing medical operations and ensuring regulatory compliance to deliver high-quality, patient-centered services.

Key Responsibilities
~ Lead and coordinate outpatient clinical services for infectious disease patients
~ Serve as the clinical director for the outpatient clinic, supporting overall care delivery
~ Provide clinical supervision to healthcare staff, including NPs, RNs, and PAs
~ Develop and implement care policies, procedures, and clinical guidelines
~ Attend and participate in medical staff meetings, adhering to bylaws and regulations
~ Support continuous quality improvement efforts and help monitor service effectiveness
~ Provide direct patient care:
~~ Perform medical histories and physicals
~~ Diagnose and treat infectious diseases and related conditions
~~ Prescribe medications and order necessary diagnostic tests
~~ Offer preventive education to patients and the broader community
~~ Refer patients to specialty services as needed
~ Consult with outpatient clinic staff and act as a clinical resource
~ Oversee infection control practices, safety protocols, and compliance procedures
~ Participate in health education initiatives and outreach programs
~ Evaluate clinic services and make recommendations for process improvements
~ Promote research and development in outpatient infectious disease care
Qualifications
Education:
~ MD or DO degree with a specialization in Infectious Disease
Licensure & Certifications:
~ Active and unrestricted medical license in the state of Louisiana
~ Board Certification or Eligibility in Infectious Disease
~ Valid DEA Registration and Louisiana Controlled Dangerous Substance License
~ Current CPR certification (preferred)
Experience:
~ Prior outpatient infectious disease experience preferred
~ Experience in FQHC or community clinic settings a plus
Technical Skills:
~ EMR proficiency preferred
~ Basic computer literacy required
Soft Skills:
~ Excellent verbal and written communication in English
~ Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
~ Multilingual abilities are a plus
