(Only QUALIFIED Healthcare Professionals accepted) Family-NP - All-genz MediMatch Recruit seeks one part-time Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) working in a rural community health center in Edenton North Carolina. Edenton is two hours and fifteen minutes from Raleigh, North Carolina.
Summary: provide clinician services in a rural community health center. The position involves caring for patients across the lifespan, managing chronic and acute conditions, providing preventive services, coordinating care, responding to urgent needs, and helping overcome the access barriers common in rural communities.
Location: Primary location: Edenton North Carolina.
Shifts: Monday 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM with a one hour non paid lunch
Thursday 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM with the one hour non paid lunch
Compensation: $57.00 per hour
Main roles and responsibilities
1. Provide comprehensive primary care for infants, children, adolescents, adults, older adults, and pregnant patients, depending on training, state regulations, and the health center’s services. Responsibilities can include:
• Conducting health histories and physical examinations
• Diagnosing and treating common illnesses and injuries
• Managing acute conditions such as respiratory infections, minor wounds, and gastrointestinal illness
• Treating and monitoring chronic diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, asthma, heart disease, and COPD
• Prescribing medications and adjusting treatment plans
• Ordering and interpreting laboratory tests, imaging, and other diagnostic studies
• Performing procedures within the provider’s scope of practice
2. Emphasize preventive care and health promotion
• Providing immunizations
• Performing cancer screenings and wellness examinations
• Offering reproductive, sexual, and prenatal care when available
• Monitoring child and adolescent development
• Providing nutrition, exercise, and tobacco-cessation counseling
• Screening for depression, substance use, domestic violence, and social needs
• Educating patients about disease prevention and self-management
3. Manage complex and underserved patient needs
• Provide care for patients who have delayed seeking treatment
• Address multiple medical and behavioral health concerns during one visit
• Use culturally respectful and community-centered approaches
4. Respond to urgent and emergency situations
Although a community health center is primarily an outpatient setting, the FNP may need to stabilize patients with serious or unexpected conditions. This can involve:
• Evaluating chest pain, severe infections, injuries, allergic reactions, or respiratory distress
• Providing initial emergency treatment
• Maintaining certification in areas such as CPR, basic life support, or advanced life support, depending on the setting
5. Provide patient and family education
help patients understand their conditions and participate in decisions about their health. Education may cover:
• Medication use and side effects
• Blood glucose or blood pressure monitoring
• Wound care
• Warning signs that require urgent attention
• Lifestyle changes
• Pregnancy, newborn, and child health
• Chronic disease self-management
6. Participate in team-based care
Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams. The FNP may work with:
• Physicians and other advanced practice providers
• Registered nurses and medical assistants
• Behavioral health clinicians
• Pharmacists
• Case managers and social workers
• Community health workers
• Dentists and oral health staff
• Public health professionals
7. Support behavioral and public health services
Many rural areas face shortages of mental health and substance-use services. Depending on the center, an FNP may:
• Screen for depression, anxiety, suicide risk, and substance use
• Provide brief counseling
• Manage stable behavioral health conditions
• Initiate or monitor treatment for conditions such as opioid use disorder when appropriately trained and authorized
