Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) – Surgical Trauma | Med-Surg for a high-acuity inpatient unit. The ideal candidate will have strong experience caring for complex surgical and trauma patients and be comfortable working in a fast-paced clinical environment.
This position requires excellent assessment, communication, prioritization, and patient-care skills.
Responsibilities
• Provide direct nursing care to high-acuity surgical and trauma patients.
• Perform comprehensive patient assessments and monitor changes in patient condition.
• Develop, implement, and update individualized nursing care plans.
• Administer medications and treatments according to established policies and physician orders.
• Provide care for patients with complex surgical and traumatic injuries.
• Coordinate patient care with physicians, nursing support staff, and other members of the interdisciplinary team.
• Receive and provide comprehensive nursing handoffs during admissions, transfers, and shift changes.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation using the Epic electronic medical record (EMR) system.
• Follow established infection prevention, patient safety, and clinical care protocols.
• Respond appropriately to changes in patient condition and emergency situations.
Requirements
• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license as required for the assignment
• Minimum 2 years of recent experience in the specialty
• Current BLS certification – Required
• ACLS certification – Preferred
• Recent Epic EMR experience – Required
• Previous experience working with high-acuity surgical and|or trauma patients
• Strong clinical assessment and critical-thinking skills
• Ability to work assigned shifts based on facility needs
• Must be comfortable working without a block schedule
